The Church Room at Southwater Parish Church, Church Lane, Southwater RH13 9BT

£6 per Class

Come along and learn to bellydance with the Dirty Feet Bellydancers! This class is suitable for beginners with no previous experience of bellydance or for those who would like to refresh their technique. Not only is this dance form a great way to tone the body and improve flexibility, it’s low impact, which means it’s suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. You DO NOT have to be thin to bellydance… in fact, the more jelly you have to jiggle, the better!!

Every week, we’ll start off with a yoga-inspired warm up; build up our ‘bellydance toolkit’ with some technique practice; play some fun bellydance games; and learn our very own choreography to take away. And once you’re feeling confident, there will be opportunities to get into costume and perform, throughout the year, as part of the Dirty Feet Bellydance Tribe!

What should I wear? Contrary to popular belief, we bellydancers DO wear clothes !) – loose and comfortable is the order of the day (e.g. leggings and a vest/t-shirt), no special footwear is needed as we dance barefoot (but if you prefer to have something on your feet, something flexible like ballet shoes is a great option) What should I bring? A bottle of water, a yoga mat if you have one (although we won’t spend more than ten minutes doing floor-based stretches), a notebook and pen (in case you want to make notes) Do I need any special equipment? As we progress, we’ll be working with veils, finger cymbals (zils) etc., but to start with you just need your hips!! If you have a coin belt, please do bring it to class… I’ll have some for you to buy or borrow too!
